6.7 Million Dollar Grant Will Fund Caldwell Park Improvements

Next year, Redding’s beloved Caldwell Park will celebrate its 60th year with construction of some major improvements made possible by a huge state grant just announced. The 6.7 Million Dollars is coming from Proposition 68 funds, thanks to a grant authored by the City of Redding Community Services Division. No matching funds are required by the city. Improvements paid for will include a new bike park, expansion of the existing skate park, a new climbing and bouldering area, a multi-use athletic court and an exercise circuit. Also, an existing restroom will be replaced, parking will be improved and the Sacramento River Trail will be upgraded with lighting and additional connection points. The features in the plan were chosen as a direct result of input by the community.
