Deputies Arrest Passed Out In Stolen SUV In Cottonwood

Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies say a man did not wake up in a good mood after passing out in a stolen SUV at a gas station. At 3:19AM a deputy driving by the Fourth Street Chevron in Cottonwood noticed a Chevy Tahoe sitting at the pumps running. The driver was slumped over the center console, fast asleep. The Tahoe had been reported stolen out of Redding. Other deputies arrived and they used their public address systems to try and wake the man, identified as 30-year-old Travis Ryan. He wouldn’t budge until they approached and opened the door. Ryan reportedly woke up grumpy, resisting deputies as they tried to get him out of the drivers seat. Fritz the K9 was introduced, and Ryan was taken into custody. After a stop at the hospital to be treated for dog bites, Ryan was booked into jail.
