Fire Damages 3-Story Home Just West Of Redding

A house fire in the hills west of Redding sent up a plume of smoke that could be seen all over town. It was a three story home on Highland Court, located off Victoria Drive in an area that had been ravaged by the Carr Fire. Cal-Fire Battalion Chief Scott Wood says when he arrived the approximately 3500 square foot three story house was about 50% involved. He says the complex architecture of the structure made it difficult to isolate the fire, and the gusty north wind helped drive the fire through the house. Wood says the house is about a 90% loss, though firefighters worked to carry some of the homeowners’ irreplaceable belongings out. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
