Burglar Captured After Running From Deputies Saturday Morning

A burglary suspect was difficult to catch early Saturday morning, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department. At 5:40AM, deputies responded to a burglar alarm at Meeks Lumber on Eastside Road between Redding and Anderson. When they arrived, deputies could see a man inside and they set up a perimeter, but when they searched the building they found the thief had given them the slip. They searched the property and spotted him again, ordering him to get on the ground, but instead he scaled a fence and ran away. They tracked him with K9 to no avail. A couple hours later he was spotted walking on River Ranch Road, but again he ran. A track led to a nearby property, where 36-year-old Jason Michael Kenyon was found. Deputies say when he tried to flee, Fritz the K9 was unleashed on him. Kenyon allegedly had items on him that had been stolen from Meek’s. After a trip to the hospital he was booked into jail for burglary and resisting arrest.
