RPD To Step Up Enforcement At Grocery Stores

The Redding Police Department says they’ll implement a concentrated enforcement and presence at grocery stores and increase patrols at closed businesses. That policy change was announced on Friday, along with the closure of the police lobby and the property and evidence division. Appointments need to be made for that function, as well as vehicle impound releases and sex offenders registrants. The RPD had previously suspended all ride-alongs, tours, trainings and meetings of more than 10 people. Also, officers won’t respond to most non-emergency calls where the suspect is not present.
