Here’s an update on Shasta County’s Coronavirus situation, as public health passed on some good news and some bad news. First, the bad news. A woman in her 70s has become Shasta County’s 233rd death by Covid. Another 31 cases were reported from Sunday and Monday for a total of 12,630 confirmed cases. There were also 401 negative tests. An estimated 126 people have the virus right now; 19 are hospitalized and 5 are in intensive care.

The good news is that the county has emerged beyond the Blueprint for a Safer Economy in the orange tier, with an adjusted case rate of 5.14 daily cases per 100,000 residents.
