Body Found In Outbuilding Gutted By Fire

One person has been found dead inside a large converted garage building that was gutted by fire Tuesday morning in East Redding. The building is located next to a house on Leonard Street off Hartnell near the Hen House. Redding Firefighters arrived to find the building well involved with fire. The original detached garage building had been highly modified into an l-shaped structure with a cavernous interior, and with the inside full of flames and the roof on the verge of collapse, firefighters had to make an exterior attack. It all changed when they learned from the homeowners that someone had been living inside the structure, according to Redding Fire Battalion Chief Sean Plummer. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The deceased was an adult, but the identity and gender have not been made public.
