DA’s Office Raising Funds To Help Provide PPE To 1st Responders

The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office is challenging other organizations and businesses to raise funds to protect healthcare workers on the frontline of the fight against Coronavirus. There’s an urgent need for “powered air purifier respirators”, which are head-to-foot suits with battery powered respirators used to protect people while they care for those with infectious diseases. Mercy Foundation North says their three hospitals collectively need 54 of the suits, but each of them costs $1500. The D.A.’s Office has pooled together donations from their employees to purchase one of the units, but obviously the need is enormous. Mercy Foundation North can be reached at 247-3425.
