Retired Deputy Dog Passes

A retired Shasta County Sheriff’s K9 with an exemplary record of service has died. Chase began his career in 2010. He was called upon to sniff out drugs more than 200 times, resulting in the seizure of 25 pounds of methamphetamine, 10-and-a-half pounds of cocaine, 50 pounds of heroin and more than 500 pounds of marijuana. He helped in the seizure of more than $800,000 worth of drug-related assets and currency. He helped in the arrests of more than 200 suspects, 4 of whom he apprehended himself. Chase retired in 2017, and has passed away peacefully at home in the company of his family.
