CRT Rebuilds Carr Fire House

In the midst of an unprecedented crisis, some good news has emerged from the aftermath of the last really big crisis to hit Shasta County. The NorCal Community Recovery Team has finished their first Carr Fire home rebuild. Construction on the Old Shasta home began in July of 2019, one year after the Carr Fire ripped through that area on its way to becoming one of the biggest fires in state history. The effort was made possible by a network of more than 15 partners in the local construction industry and contributors to the Shasta Regional Community Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund. Under normal circumstances, the house could have cost $200,000 to build, but with donated materials and labor the house was completed for under $57,000. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place after current shelter in place orders are lifted.
