Fire Damages Home In South Redding

A South Redding house was heavily damaged by fire Monday night. At around 9:30PM, Redding Firefighters were dispatched to a house on East Bonnyview Road. They found heavy smoke billowing from the garage of the 2000 square foot home. Firefighters were told that people were still inside, so they made sure all 5 occupants were evacuated and then made access to the garage, which was on fire along with a car parked inside. The flames were knocked down in about 20 minutes, but major damage resulted, estimated at $35,000 for the structure and another $5,000 for the car. One resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The house had no working smoke detectors.
