Crews Remove Nearly A Ton Of Trash From Illegal Marijuana Grow

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has cleaned up an area of Tehama County that had been contaminated by an illegal marijuana garden. The pot bust was done last November in a remote location along Antelope Creek in what was once the home of Ishi, the last of the Yahi Indian Tribe. About 2,500 fully budded plants were eradicated, along with almost 250 pounds of processed bud. There were no people there, but many environmental violations were committed, including a poached deer, damaging water diversions, about a ton of trash, 9,000 feet of plastic irrigation pipe, many bottles of hazardous pesticides, snare traps, and other dangerous gear. Officials returned recently to clean up the site using funds generated from legal cannabis sales taxes.
