1st COVID-19 Death Reported In Tehama County, 12 Now Recovered In Shasta County

Tehama County has reported its first death from COVID-19. According to the Tehama County Health Services Agency, the man in his 60’s was the county’s only confirmed case after testing positive for the virus April 1. He died Monday evening. 167 people have tested negative for Coronavirus in Tehama County.

After four consecutive days with no new Coronavirus cases in Shasta County, a man in his 50’s tested positive Monday to bring the new total to 25. There were no new cases Tuesday. Three people have died from the virus. A total of 12 have now recovered, leaving 8 active cases in isolation. Three of those patients are hospitalized, two of them in I.C.U. 744 COVID tests in Shasta County have shown negative results. 56 people are currently under quarantine orders due to possible exposure.

More testing is now available in Shasta County. Anyone with the symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough and shortness of breath, should request a test from their healthcare provider or public health at 225-5591. This week epidemiologists will develop a workable model in hopes of predicting when COVID cases will peak for the area.

Butte County has 16 Coronavirus cases. Siskiyou County has 5, but 3 have recovered. Humboldt County has 50. Glenn County has 4. There are still none reported in Trinity, Lassen or Modoc Counties.
