Deputies Exchange Gunfire With Pot Grower In Trinity County

Shots were exchanged between Trinity County Deputies and a pot grower, according to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office. The brief shootout apparently happened after deputies arrived with a search warrant on a large piece of private property in the southern area of the county Monday morning. The property owner claimed to be uninvolved in the cultivation, and did not know the growers. Deputies say they were met with rifle fire, and they shot back as the gunman ran off into the woods. With the help of a CHP helicopter, deputies apprehended 27-year-old Luis Hernan Cornejo-Becerra of Fortuna. He was booked into jail on several charges. Nobody was struck by any of the gunfire.
