Scammers Targeting Small Business Owners In Need Of Coronavirus Funds

As small business owners await a rescue from the Small business Administration’s newly funded Paycheck Protection Program, some fast talking imposters are trying to take advantage. The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office says one company in particular, Ponte Investments LLC, is making claims that they’re affiliated with the SBA loan program. They’ve been calling business owners and sending follow-up e-mails. It’s recommended that anyone who gets an email claiming to be from their bank or a government agency should not click on it but instead go directly to the bank’s website or sba.gov/coronavirus. The government will not ask for any money up front and will not call seeking a social security, bank account or credit card number.
