Work On I-5 Widening Project Will Force Detours In Anderson

Cal-Trans work is getting underway again on the Interstate Five Redding to Anderson Six Lane Project, and drivers need to be prepared for some major traffic shifts and time-consuming detours. The onramp from Deschutes Road to Northbound Interstate 5 and the offramp from Northbound Interstate 5 to Balls Ferry Road will both be closed starting Sunday evening and continuing until next Saturday May 2nd. Northbound drivers who need to get to Balls Ferry Road, the Gateway Drive and McMurray Drive area need to take one of the other three exits and go around. Road workers will be on scene day and night through early may and traffic will be diverted to the freeway median. A 55 mile an hour speed limit will be strictly enforced by the CHP, and that speed limit may be reduced even more at times. Fines are doubled in construction zones.
