Update: RPD Corporal Arrested On Drug Charges

A veteran Redding Police Corporal was arrested after a drug bust at a Redding warehouse. 50-year-old Corporal Will Williams was among 3 people charged after a search warrant was served at a warehouse on Crossroads Drive near Old 44 Drive on April 29th, and in Oak Run the following day. A tip to the CHP Northern Division in early April led investigators to begin surveillance of the warehouse. During the search authorities reported finding 138 pounds of processed marijuana bud, 332 growing marijuana plants, 30 grams of cocaine and $59,000 in cash. 40-year-old Heather Legault and 39-year-old Michael Gray, both of Redding, were also arrested. Redding Police Chief Bill Schueller said his internal investigation will be as transparent as possible. Corporal Williams started as an officer for the RPD nearly 20 years ago. He’s been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. He was booked on charges and released, but those charges have not yet been filed with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office.
