County health officials are demobilizing the temporary overflow hospital that’s been partially set up at the Redding Civic Auditorium. The hospital beds and other equipment is being stored in semi trailers at the Breslauer Way County Campus, so it can quickly be set up again if the need arises due to a surge of hospitalized Covid patients. Public Health says the low rate of infection means the permanent hospitals have not come anywhere close to capacity, making the alternate care site unnecessary. Since the auditorium has been unused due to the ban on gatherings, the county has been renting the space from the Bethel Church owned company Advance Redding at a cost of $4,500 per day.
