Testings Begins To Ramp Up As Some Businesses Hope To Reopen Friday

There have been 1,746 people who have tested negative for Coronavirus so far in Shasta County. Anyone, even with no symptoms, can get tested at a Covid testing station at Shasta College. Testing is by appointment only, which can be done online at lhi.care/covidtesting
Those with symptoms, which include cough, fever and difficulty breathing, should still contact their healthcare provider or public health at 225-5591 to set a mobile testing appointment.

For Tehama County, drive-through testing is being done at the Dignity Health Solano Street Medical Clinic in Corning. Appointments can be made at 824-4002.

Shasta County Public Health Officer Doctor Karen Ramstrom is working on completing the self-certification the state requires to move into phase two Friday and allow some businesses to open. The county is still awaiting more specific details from the state in terms of what exactly can open and to what degree. Tools for businesses are at shastaready.org.

Non-essential travel and large gatherings will still be prohibited. While out in public, people are encouraged to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
