Vitalant, formerly known as Bloodsource, is now testing all blood donations for Covid antibodies, and providing test results to donors. That will tell if the donor had previously been exposed to the virus. Blood donations are critically low. Especially needed are type O, type A negative, and type B negative. Plasma is also badly needed. Appointments can be made at vitalant.org or 877-25-VITAL.
Officials are encouraging everyone to get tested for COVID-19, especially workers who come into contact with the public. 5,181 tests have shown negative results in Shasta County. Anyone, even with no symptoms, can get tested for free at a Covid testing station at Shasta College or at the Red Bluff Community Center or at Corning High School. If insurance doesn’t cover the cost, the state will. Appointments must be made online at lhi.care/covidtesting.
