Former Wrestling Coach Will Stand Trial For Alleged Sex Crimes Against Students

The former head wrestling coach for Central Valley High School has been ordered to stand trial on multiple sex crimes with underage students. 27-year-old Stephen Reed was arrested February 27th for charges including statutory rape and a number of other sex related charges. The Shasta County Shheriff’s Office started investigating after learning that reed may have been having sex with female students for the past two years at the high school campus in Shasta Lake City. Detectives questioned Reed and he reportedly admitted to the allegations. As the investigation has progressed, Reed’s charges have grown to 20 separate counts involving 5 victims. Reed remains in jail on a Million Dollars bail. He appeared in court Thursday, and will be back for arraignment June 18th.
