No Funding For Shasta County In Presidential Disaster Declaration

A Presidential Disaster Declaration that had been long awaited for California’s fires apparently does not include Shasta County or the Zogg Fire. A local assistance center remains open for residents affected by the Zogg Fire. It’s at the fairgrounds in Anderson, open from 10AM to 7PM daily through this Wednesday. Representatives from local, state and federal agencies are there to help with a variety of needs. The Red Cross is providing cleanup supplies and disaster mental health and spiritual care volunteers. Iformation is available by calling 2-1-1.

The Zogg Fire started September 27th and burned 56,338 acres. 204 structures were destroyed and 27 damaged. Four civilians were killed in the Zogg Fire and an inmate firefighter was injured. Three rescued Mountain Lion cubs found in the Zogg Fire zone are being cared for by veterinarians at the Oakland Zoo. Cal-Fire investigators are still looking into whether PG&E equipment caused the Zogg Fire.
