A fire broke out off the western edge of Redding a little after 8AM Monday morning. Located off Placer Road near Silver King Road, the fire sent a large column of smoke into the sky. There was a quick response by Cal-Fire and Redding Fire Department, and forward progress was stopped at around 2 acres.
