RPD: Santa Rosa Man Arrested For 2nd Time This Week

A Santa Rosa man who was arrested earlier this week after leaving a trail of destruction in East Redding is back in custody after a standoff with police. On Wednesday morning officers were called to the Motel 6 on Twin View for a man who flooded a room with water. When hotel staff tried to talk to the man he reportedly answered the door naked and threatened to kill them. Officers arrived shortly after 8AM and found water cascading from an upstairs room. 46-year-old Michael Hernandez refused to talk to them and threw the motel telephone out the door and into the parking lot. Officers continued negotiating with Hernandez for about 45 minutes as he kept throwing things out the door and broke out some of the windows. He was eventually taken into custody by a police K9.On Monday morning Hernandez was accused in two separate hit-and-run collisions in East Redding after he was pepper sprayed at the Circle K at the corner of Hartnell and Churn Creek during an altercation with a cashier.
