An autopsy of a deceased Weaverville woman has led to an arrest for murder. Just after Midnight of October 30th Loretta McGrath was discovered dead in her home. Deputies on scene alerted detectives to some suspicious observations and evidence was gathered but at the end of the night, the cause of death was undetermined. Last Wednesday an autopsy revealed internal signs of manual strangulation and the death was declared a homicide by the pathologist. 29-year-old Christopher Avila, who was already a person of interest, was tracked down in Shasta County and arrested for murder. During an interview he allegedly confessed.
