Man Who Stole Mail Sentenced To 3 Years In Federal Prison

A Chico man has been sentenced in federal court for post office burglaries committed in several north state counties, from Sutter to Shasta. 32-year-old Jeremy Elguez entered a guilty plea on August 4th, admitting to ten different burglaries at post offices in Butte City, Glenn, Vina, Bangor, Stirling City, Meridian, Artois and Cassel. He stole mail, postal money orders, security cameras, and a check for $80,000. He also stole a check from the mail worth $350,000 and tried to cash it. On Tuesday Elguez was sentenced to three years six months in federal prison.
