An Anderson Police K9 took down a kidnapping suspect Friday night. At around 7:30PM, a woman was in the middle of North Street trying to flag down passing cars. Officers spoke with the woman, who had visible wounds from being assaulted. She said she had been driving north on Interstate 5 when her boyfriend, 28-year-old Michael Galindo of Stockton, punched her multiple times. She pulled off the freeway and when she got out of the car, Galindo hopped in the drivers seat and took off. The woman’s 5-year-old son, who’s not related to Galindo, was still in the car. Officers searched the area and found the car on Loop Street, blocking it in with their patrol cars. Galindo started yelling and cussing at the officers and was threatened with the use of Ivan the K9. Galindo got out of the car and turned his back to the officers, then dropped his hands to his waistband so the dog was released. Ivan got Galindo on the ground and the officers handcuffed him. Galindo was treated at a hospital for his dog bites and booked into jail for kidnapping, carjacking and other charges. The child was returned to his mother.
