Grant Will Fund Extra Traffic Officers To Target Speeders

California has a speed problem, and traffic enforcement might be the only solution. Since the start of stay-at-home orders in March, when traffic volume went way down, typical speeds went way up. Between March 19th and April 30th, the CHP issued 4,000 tickets statewide for speeding over 100 miles an hour. That was more than double the same time frame last year. The Redding Police Department has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to fund additional traffic officers and write more speeding tickets. Extra enforcement will be in effect through the end of the year.
