CHP Seeks Witnesses To Fatal Crash On Highway 44

A man was killed in a crash west of Shingletown Sunday afternoon. A little after 3 O’clock, a 2005 GMC Envoy was eastbound on Highway 44 near Boulder Ridge Trail when the driver lost control on a curve, crossed the opposing lane, left the road and collided with a telephone pole. The pole sheared off at the base and the SUV kept going until it struck a Pine tree. The unidentified male driver was wearing a seatbelt, but he suffered major injuries and died at the scene. The CHP is seeking witnesses.
