BLM Plans 160 Acre Burn North Of Red Bluff

A prescribed burn is planned for Wednesday in the Sacramento River Bend area north of Red Bluff. The Bureau of Land Management is planning to torch about 160 acres of dead grass, overgrown Cattails and overgrown Tule Plants within the Paynes Creek Wetlands. The area is a major stop for migratory birds. The Park Service has been gathering many piles of downed material from the Carr Fire in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, and now it’s time to light them up. Dozens of burn piles in various areas of the park will be torched in the next few weeks.
