A Shasta County man who caused a major scene at the Shasta County Probation Office has been sentenced to a long term in prison. 45-year-old Robert Willis Slavens was visiting his probation officer on July 14th when he failed a drug test and was going to be arrested he tried to flee, but was stopped and handcuffed after a struggle. He then said he couldn’t breath and said he was having a heart attack. The handcuffs were removed and he was moved into a recovery position as an ambulance was called. He was taken to a hospital, evaluated and then returned to the probation office and eventually booked into jail. Slavens was convicted on November 5th on 4 felonies and 2 misdemeanors for resisting. On Wednesday he was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
