A man was killed on Interstate 5 in Redding Monday morning. It was first reported a little after 5AM as a person lying on the roadside near the Cypress Avenue offramp from Northbound I-5. When medical personnel and law enforcement arrived they found the man was dead. The slow lane was closed so evidence could be gathered. Some time later the CHP was contacted by 43-year-old Guillermo Campos of Sacramento. He said he had been driving his Kenworth tractor-trailer through Redding and struck what he thought was an animal. The impact caused moderate damage to the right front fender of the truck, and threw the man to the shoulder. The coroner’s office is working on identifying the victim.
