For the 29th year Redding Police Officers will conduct Operation Blue Santa. The program was introduced in 1991, delivering Christmas cheer to three Redding families that first year. This year, 19 families with more than 64 children will be provided gifts and other holiday cheer by the Blue Santa Team. That even includes complete dinner for the entire families, thanks to a generous donor. The packages will be delivered Friday by the blue-clad Santa Clause accompanied by officers and volunteers, who will gather at 8AM at the police station to begin the caravan. The team will also stop by One Safe Place and the Mercy Medical Center Pediatric Ward. They’ll bring enough candy-filled stockings and stuffed animals to be able to present them to any kid they happen to meet along the way.
