Supervisors Approve Purchase Of Building Near Redding Airport

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors has approved the purchase of an office building near the airport for the Sheriff’s Office with a price of $3.8 Million. An immediate use for the facility would be as an Emergency Operations Center. The county apparently leased private space to establish an operations center for COVID-19. Sheriff Eric Magrini also wants to base the South County Patrol Division there. The purchase price of the Lockheed Drive property is $50,000 more than the appraised value, but county administration is apparently willing to pay it. The parcel includes a 16,000 square foot office building and a 1200 square foot shop. There’s also a space where a 6,000 square foot building could be added. The location is currently the home of the engineering firm Sharrah Dunlap Sawyer.
