COVID-19 Vaccinations Begin In Shasta County

Shipments of the Pfizer vaccine have arrived in Shasta County. The 1,950 doses were delivered to Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday and are being stored in the hospitals sub-zero freezers. Public health says that about 350 more doses of the Pfizer vaccine are expected to be delivered and about 2000 doses of the Moderna vaccine should arrive next week. Teachers, first responders, and grocery and restaurant workers were among those recommended to get the next round of scarce vaccines in California. Health care workers and long-term care facilities are now getting the first round of vaccines.

Public health is strongly urging everyone to get tested. It’s available by appointment only and anyone can get tested for free in Shasta Lake, Anderson, South Redding, Enterprise and Shasta College. Appointments can be made at lhi.care/covidtesting or visit shastaready.org.
