Shasta County reported 151 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday for a total 7,567. 70 people have died from the virus in Shasta County. There are currently 57 people hospitalized and 7 are in the ICU. The regional ICU capacity decreased slightly from Tuesday to 28.8%. There are an estimated 596 cases in the county, and it is estimated that 539 people are isolated due to possible exposure.
Butte County has reported 6,473 cases and 83 deaths.
Tehama County has had 2,917 cases and 33 deaths.
Trinity County has had 2 deaths among 262 cases.
1,067 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 8 deaths.
Glenn County has had 1,336 cases and 2 more deaths for a total of 14.
Humboldt County has had 1,512 cases and 16 deaths.
Lassen County has had 7 deaths among their 1238 cases in the community and one death among the 2,918 cases in prison.
Modoc County has reached 292 cases.
Californians are being warned it is too risky to celebrate the winter holidays normally and if they don’t change plans there could be a disastrous explosion of coronavirus cases. The state has recorded a half-million cases in the last two weeks, and a projection model shows California could have 100,000 hospitalizations in the next month. The current surge is already overwhelming hospitals. California’s leaders are reaching out to places like Australia and Taiwan to fill the need for 3,000 temporary medical workers. All of Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley have exhausted their regular intensive care unit capacity
California’s exposure notification system uses Bluetooth technology to alert a subscriber if they come in close contact with another subscriber who has tested positive for COVID-19. The program ensures privacy and does not share identities. Details are at canotify.ca.gov
