A crash blocked both directions of North Market Street Tuesday during one of the busiest times of the day. At about 15 minutes before noon, 69-year-old Michael Abrams was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup down the Sulphur Creek hill toward Miracle Mile when he made a U-turn at Benton Drive to head back north. Witnesses say he then accelerated rapidly and lost control of the truck, which hit the raised center median and rolled over into the southbound lanes. The Chevy rolled onto the hood and windshield of a 1989 Toyota Tercel driven by 84-year-old Patricia Griffin. She and Abrams were both wearing seatbelts and both suffered moderate injuries. Redding Police shut down the entire street as they investigated.
