East Redding House Fire

A house was heavily damaged by fire in East Redding Tuesday. The house off Hartnell east of Victor was about 50% involved in flames when Redding firefighters arrived. Smoke detectors had alerted the three residents to the fire, so got they out quickly and called for help, according to Redding Fire Battalion Chief Mike Sawyer. He said the rear half of the home was destroyed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage is estimated at $100,000 to the house and another $20,000 worth of contents. After all the city’s resources had arrived at the scene, another possible structure fire was reported nearby on Sabre Court, but it turned out to be just a minor electrical issue.
