MLK Day Much Different Due to COVID

COVID will force some drastic changes to Redding’s traditional observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day on Monday. A program honoring Dr King and delivering his message of non-violent resistance will be posted on the city’s Facebook pages beginning at 11am, and on websites for the City of Redding and the Redding MLK Center. The pre-recorded program will include speeches and musical performances, as well as footage from last year’s bell ringing ceremony at Old City Hall. The usual march to the courthouse and to the MLK Center will be replaced with a car parade starting at 10:30am at the lower Diestelhorst Bridge parking lot off Court Street. Those who wish to participate should arrive before 10:30
