Crews Anticipate To Continue Work On Fuels Reduction Project Near Lake Shasta

If conditions aren’t right Friday, the Forest Service is hoping to do some burning in the Lake Shasta Area in the next several days. A fuels reduction project has been ongoing on Bear Mountain north of Jones Valley. Crews have been cutting undergrowth and placing it in piles. When possible, about 86 acres of burn piles may be torched, creating a significant column of smoke that’ll be seen for miles.
