Anderson Police are seeking a group of burglars who pulled a smash and grab at the Ace Hardware in Anderson in October of 2019. A little after 4AM APD responded to an alarm at the hardware store, located off Highway 273 at Marx Way. They found the glass front door shattered, but the thieves were already gone. In surveillance video, a van can be seen backing up to the entrance before someone gets out and breaks out the glass door with bolt cutters. Three more people then rush into the building and start loading up power tools. They were all wearing hooded sweatshirts to conceal their faces. The van is a newer model with dark colored paint, tinted windows and silver rims. The thieves got away with various power tools worth around $14,000. Detectives say they have fresh evidence to forensics labs.
