The CHP arrested the same man twice in two days in the Yreka area. Last Wednesday a silver BMW drove through a chain control checkpoint on Southbound I-5 at Yreka, and fled at high speed. Several CHP Officers were helping stranded drivers and saw the BMW speed past them. One officer tried to overtake the car but quickly discontinued due to the dangerous conditions. The driver soon discovered how dangerous as the BMW spun out on the icy freeway and became stuck in the snow in the center divide. 30-year-old Jorge Nemecio Luna of Riverside was arrested for DUI. He was out by 6AM the next morning, when officers were told to be on the lookout for a stolen Buick sedan. A half hour later a CHP Officer working chain on Southbound I-5 at Edgewood spotted the Buick waiting in line. He told the driver, who turned out to be Luna, that he needed to pull into the center divide to have his tires inspected. When he did so, he was arrested for car theft. It turned out the BMW had also been stolen. Luna was booked into jail.
