RPD Releases Surveillance Of Possible Arsonist Before Fire At Denny’s

A fire that damaged a Redding restaurant early Friday morning is believed to have been human caused and the suspected arsonist may have been captured on surveillance video at a business next door. At 4:40AM Friday a fire broke out on the exterior of the Denny’s Restaurant off Bechelli Lane. The fire spread a little bit into the attic and broke a window before it was extinguished by Redding Fire Department. The restaurant was closed at the time. Damage is estimated at $25,000 to the building and $500 worth of contents. A video clip from the Shell Station next door shows a man walking toward Denny’s right before the fire started. The video can be seen on the KQMS Facebook page. It’s not known if the Denny’s fire is related to an exterior fire the same morning at the boarded-up former Meek’s Lumber on East Cypress at Larkspur.
