Shasta County Reaches 170 COVID-19 Deaths, Mass Vaccination Clinic Planned For Saturday

The Coronavirus death toll keeps climbing in Shasta County, with another four fatalities reported for a total of 170. The latest were three men in their 80’s and a man over age 89. An additional 31 cases have been confirmed, as well as 1,009 negative tests. The total number of cases so far is 10,718. An estimated 243 people have the virus right now, 20 of them hospitalized and 4 in intensive care. Because Friday and Monday are both government holidays, no new data will be released by the county until Tuesday.

Tehama County has reported 4,930 cases and 51 deaths.
There have been 321 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
1,650 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 13 deaths.
Butte County has reported 149 deaths among their 10,437 cases.
Lassen County has had 17 deaths among their 1,992 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,506 cases in prison.
Glenn County has had 2,133 cases and 23 deaths.
Humboldt County has had 3,009 cases and 32 deaths.
Modoc County has had 441 cases and 4 deaths.

The county adjusted case rate has dropped from 25 to 23 daily cases per 100,000 residents. The unadjusted case rate was 20.2, but it was bumped up because of the county’s low per capita testing volume. The positivity rate increased from 4.9% to 5.5%.

Shasta County residents who got the first dose of vaccine January 16th can get the next shot at a mass clinic at the fairgrounds in Anderson this Saturday (2/13). Walk-ins are being accepted at the three state Covid testing sites.The sites at Breslauer Way and the Senior Center on Benton Drive are open Tuesday through Saturday and the site at Shasta College is open Monday through Friday. Hours are 7AM to 630PM. More details are at shastaready.org.

Infection rates, cases and hospitalizations continue to go down. Health officials are now recommending that people who are fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus do not have to go into a 14-day quarantine after exposure to an infected person.
