Oregon Man Accused Of Kidnapping Faces Federal Charges

An alleged kidnapping of an Oregon man is now a federal case, according to the Medford Mail-Tribune. Last September a 30-year-old Oregon man called 9-1-1 to say he had been kidnapped out of state and the kidnappers had driven him to Red Bluff to exchange for ransom. The man gave a description of the vehicle and officers spotted it on Adobe Road and pulled it over. During the traffic stop the driver, 46-year-old David Brian Scott of Grants Pass, reportedly sped away with an officer hanging onto the side, with Scott trying to shake him off until the officer pointed his gun at Scott and the vehicle stopped. The Oregon newspaper says Scott had kidnapped the man using a Taser and said he was using him to collect a $25,000 debt for someone else. Scott remains in Tehama County Jail, but on Monday he was charged in U.S. District Court in Medford because of the interstate nature of the case.
