Project Will Make Downtown Street More Pedestrian Friendly

A key Downtown Redding shortcut is gone forever, at least for those who use motorized vehicles to get around. The section of Riverside Drive that runs under the railroad trestle between North Court Street and Center Street is being converted to bicycle and pedestrian traffic only. City of Redding Public Works is building a separated cycle track, off street paths, enhanced crossings, A.D.A. compliant curb ramps, corridor lighting and other features designed to provide a safe non-motorized link between downtown and the Diestelhorst Bridge. The project should be completed by July.
