APD: Parolee Tells Officers He Is Amish To Avoid Arrest

A suspected thief was arrested by Anderson Police after providing an implausible story about his identity. On Saturday, Walmart security called the APD to say a long haired man had tried to steal some items and drove away south on Rhonda Road. The car was pulled over in Cottonwood and the driver identified himself as Jeffrey Rockwell. A records check of all 50 states showed that no driver’s license or ID had been issued in that name. The man said he didn’t have any records or Social Security Number because his family was Amish, which the officers disputed partly because of his prison tattoos. When he was booked into jail and fingerprinted, he was identified as 59-year-old Jeffery Kenton, who is on parole in Oregon for first degree manslaughter and arson, and has a warrant for a felony pursuit in Medford. Kenton is in jail awaiting extradition.
