Clerks Cited After Selling Alcohol To Underage Decoy

Four store clerks were cited after reportedly selling alcohol to a minor during a decoy operation conducted by Redding Police Tuesday afternoon and evening. Between 5PM and 10PM the underage decoys went into 17 different stores and attempted to purchase alcohol with no I.D. Officers say the purchases were successful at four of them. They were the Speedway Gas Station on Churn Creek at Hartnell, B.J. Liquor on Hartnell, Chevron on Tarmac at Shasta View, and Fuel Good on College View Drive. The clerks were cited and now face a $250 fine and community service. The businesses owners’ licenses to sell alcohol could be jeopardized with repeated violations.
