APD Officers Seek Probationer After Sweep

A man is wanted for Heroin sales after a probation sweep in Anderson over the weekend. The compliance sweep was done Saturday as Anderson’s Problem Oriented Police Unit checked on a number of probationers. When they arrived at the Second Street home of 55-year-old Gary Wayne Mitts, they found he wasn’t home and they forced their way inside. Mitts’ elderly mother was there alone. Mitts is the primary caregiver for the woman, who apparently requires 24 hour care. A search of the home reportedly turned up more than 46 Grams of Heroin, almost an Ounce of Methamphetamine, scales and packaging, as well as a Taser, which Mitts is not supposed to have because of his criminal record. Mitts has not yet been located. He faces charges of elder abuse, possession of drugs for sale and more.
