Man Hospitalized After Boating Accident On Lake Shasta

A man was badly injured in a boat collision on Lake Shasta. Wednesday just before One O’clock, John Stevenson was driving a boat westbound on the Pit Arm of the lake west of Arbuckle Flat Campground, while Martin Stapley was eastbound in another boat. They were both about 100 feet from shore and coming around a blind corner. When they saw each other they both tried to take evasive action but they turned in the same direction and collided. Stapley suffered major injuries and was knocked unconscious. A passing boater took him and his passenger, who was also injured, to Jones Valley Boat Ramp and Stapley was transported to a hospital, where he’s in stable condition.
